SOHO and Admin versions

PowerKey is available in SOHO and Admin models. Both models offer outlet control via keyboard, telephone and schedules. You can configure these features using the PowerKey control panel.

The "Admin" model of PowerKey Pro 650 offers several advanced features for system managers and power users. These features are also available as an upgrade for owners of the "SOHO" model. See below for more information.

The Admin model of PowerKey Pro 650 includes the following enhanced features:

    Crash detection
Our Rebound!® technology lets PowerKey Pro monitor your computer and automatically restart it in case of a crash, just like our popular Kick-off! and Rebound! products. It can also monitor vital server applications to ensure 24x7 uptime.

You can configure these features using the Rebound! control panel, which is normally found in the same location as the PowerKey control panel. This control panel contains its own comprehensive help system, which you can access by clicking on the "?" button.

    Advanced scheduling
Our iDo® Script Scheduler software lets you use PowerKey's advanced scheduling abilities to run AppleScripts and Unix shell, Perl, Python, Ruby and Tcl/Tk scripts, letting you control and automate many aspects of your system.

You can configure these features using the iDo Script Scheduler control panel, which is normally found in the same location as the PowerKey control panel. This control panel contains its own comprehensive help system, which you can access by clicking on the "?" button.

In addition, the PowerKey software gains the ability to run scripts with a phone call, and "cycle" outlets (turn them off, then on again). This is especially useful to reset other devices (e.g. printers and Internet routers) plugged into your PowerKey outlets.

    Logging
In Mac OS X, PowerKey automatically keeps a log of crashes and events, both in a custom log file (located in /Library/Logs/PowerKey.log) and the built-in System Log. You can open the log with the "View Log" button in the Rebound! control panel, or with the "Console" application, which is found in your /Applications/Utilities folder.

In Mac OS 9, our monoLog® software will work with PowerKey Pro (and the other Admin features listed above) to keep a log of scheduled events and crashes. You can also configure monoLog to notify you of important events by e-mail or pager.
